"Myth and legend exist in the subconscious. Creative visualisation is the bridge that enables us to explore these realms."

Ross studied fine art and design at Bendigo art school where he essentially just misbehaved and messed around. Teaching himself his craft skills after his formal education was disrupted by the restless movement of the flower children in the late 60”s. Encounters with psychotropic plants led to a surge of evolutionary growth in his intellectual interests and his art Ross's art is largely an expression of his philosophical and comparative studies of mythology, ancient religions and mystery schools and their association with modern psychology and archetypal forms.

He uses a wide range of mediums, his work ranging from painting to Print-making sculpture and mosaic. Ross is co-founder and builder of the Arts community, Wolfgang's Palace which has been active for over 25 years. Based on art as an expression of philosophy and mythology Wolfgangs Palace functions as a creative hub for many artists musicians and thespians both locally and globally, serving as a unique venue to facilitate their imaginings Co-founder of Wolfgang Inc, an administrative umbrella for Wolfgang Theatre Co, Cubbyhouse Productions, "Spyndrift",  Mythic Art Cards, ELLF Library, Rainbow Satellite Journey and  Uranian Satellite  as well as hosting annual seasonal festivals.

A recent exhibition by Ross was entitled "Rhetorical Reflections" Which in essence typifies the expression of his symbolic artwork. A rhetorical question being a figure of speech in the form of a question posed for its persuasive effect, without the expectation of a reply. Rhetorical - Metaphorical How do you catch a cloud and pin it down? How do you keep a wave upon the sand? How do you hold a moonbeam in your hand? Ross exhibits rarely, although his work is held in many private collections  both here and overseas. He has won numerous art awards and has been finalist in the Blake Art Prize.

“Renewal Eternal”

Persephone and the Dual Fools

*Persephone is Goddess of Spring and Autumn,

Of Life and Death, symbolic of the waxing

And waning of the Moon, the cycle of the seasons.

As she journeys every year into the Underworld,

With Hades her Lord and Lover, so the tree reaches its

Roots in Winter, down deep into the Earth,

To bring forth its fruits in Summer.

Demeter of the Harvest mourns at her loss

And rejoices at her return……..

  The Dual Fools

 The Material and the Divine

watch with curious awe

 the unfolding of Natures drama.
